Facilities

Every horse on the farm is physically checked twice daily, ensuring their comfort, safety, and overall well-being. Each horse is also groomed regularly, with dedicated grooming sessions twice per week to maintain coat, skin, and hoof health.

During the warm months, horses are kept comfortable with fly protection, including fans in the barn, fly spray, and masks. On particularly hot days, horses can enjoy refreshing cool baths to help them relax and stay healthy. When winter settles over the Blue Ridge Mountains, blankets can be provided upon the owner’s request or as needed, ensuring each horse stays warm during the colder stretches.

At Two Generals Farm, retirement means peace, dignity, and attentive care in the open fields and mountain views of Lexington, Virginia.

etired horses at Two Generals Farm receive hands-on care—far beyond simply being turned out to pasture.
